The electronically controlled injector is the most important and complex component in a common rail system, and it is also the most difficult to design and handle. The ECU controls the switch of the solenoid valve to inject the fuel in the high-pressure rail into the combustion chamber with the optimum injection timing, injection quantity, and injection rate. In order to achieve an effective fuel injection starting point and precise fuel injection quantity, the common rail system adopts a dedicated fuel injection device, equipped with a hydraulic servo system and electronic control elements (solenoid valve). The fuel injector, like the traditional fuel injector, consists of a hole-type fuel injector, a hydraulic servo system (control piston, control measurement hole, etc.), and a solenoid valve.

  • The Function of the Fuel Injectors

The function of the injector is to inject fuel into the intake manifold or cylinder according to the injection time and pulse width calculated by the engine ECU. The injector is actually a solenoid valve, and the ECU controls the work of the injector by controlling the on and off of the solenoid valve coil current. The fuel injection device is an important part to maintain the operation of the engine. It is composed of the injection device body, the fuel injection device, the support, and the spring. The high-pressure oil is fed into the fuel supply port of the fuel injection device. The high pressure generated by the injector body acts on the fuel injection.
1. Increase the oil pressure (constant pressure): increase the injection pressure to 10MPa ~ 20MPa.

2. Control the injection time (timing): inject and stop the injection according to the specified time.

3. Controlling the amount of fuel injection (quantitative): According to the working conditions of the diesel engine, change the amount of fuel injection to adjust the speed and power of the diesel engine.

  • The Classification of the Fuel Injectors

(1) Axial needle electromagnetic injector: When injecting fuel, the armature drives the needle valve to rise about 0.1mm from its seat surface, and the fuel is sprayed from the precision gap. In order to fully atomize the fuel, a section of the fuel injection shaft needle is ground at the front end of the needle valve. The suction and fall time of the injector is about 1 to 1.5ms.

(2) Ball valve type electromagnetic injector: the ball valve needle is light in weight and the spring preload is large, which can obtain a wider dynamic flow range. The ball valve has an automatic centering function and good sealing performance. At the same time, the ball valve simplifies the structure of the metering part, which helps to improve the accuracy of fuel injection.

(3) Piece-valve solenoid injector: The combination of the light-weight valve piece and the orifice valve seat and the magnetically optimized injector assembly makes the injector not only have a large dynamic flow range but also anti-clogging ability strong.

(4)The fuel injector with oil inlet from the bottom: the bottom fuel supply method is adopted. Since the fuel can flow out from the upper part continuously around the valve seat area through the inner cavity of the injector, the cooling effect on the metering part of the injector is very obvious, so it can be It can effectively prevent the generation of air resistance and improve the reliability of the hot start of the car. Additionally, the use of bottom-injected injectors eliminates the need for a fuel manifold and helps reduce costs.
